Compassion Outreach of America (COA) is a Christian Community Development Corporation whose mission is “transforming lives forever by strengthening communities today.” COA was established in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the St. Claude neighborhood of the Upper Ninth Ward Community of New Orleans. COA seeks to improve the quality of life for residents in underserved communities through its three core foci: Church Planting, Community Development, and Education.

Signature Community Outreach Initiatives 

J9 Church - Established in 2008 Journey Ninth Ward Assembly of God is COA's first church plant.  J9 is a growing church called to Reach and Disciple the lost in the Ninth Ward.

Compassion Print - Established in 2013 Compassion Print is a social enterprise that provides quality screen printing, heat pressing and embroidering at competitive pricing. Compassion Print is more than your average screen printing shop. Proceeds fund our community programs such as the young entrepreneurs summer camp. Compassion print provides employability skills, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship training and mentoring for ages. 

Project 450-15 - Established in 2012 Project 450-15 is a community development initiative that engages volunteers to connect with homeowners in the Ninth Ward to paint and beautify their homes.  The physical conditions and aesthetics of a neighborhood deters crime and increases neighborhood morale.  In one week with 15 volunteers and $450 the exterior of a home can be painted.

Stop Killing People - Established in 2012 SKP is a call to action for community members to address the issues of violence in New Orleans; specifically in the Quad Community of St. Claude, St. Roch, Bywater, and Marigny. Our collaborative efforts present a unified campaign against violence in our neighborhoods, educate constituents about violence prevention, and employ local leaders in responsive measures.

Project REACH NOLA - Established in 2013 PRN is COA’s signature youth development program designed build character, develop leadership and strengthen academic skills (literacy, numeracy, college & career readiness).
